Depending on your groups and how you want to use your lists you may be able to make money from your subscriber lists as well as sending them information. You could use either of the ideas below to make a profit or just make enough to cover the small monthly fee of our Text Alerts Pro Service.
A Home Owners Association (HOA) or apartment complex can charge local businesses to send a Text Blast to their list to promote the business. You could send something like “Show this text at Joe’s Pizza and get 25% off your next pizza. This offer expires in 3 days”. This is obviously a very basic and simple example of a text you can send out. If there is a business that would like to advertise to the people in your group you can approach them with the offer.
IMPORTANT: Insure people know when subscribing to your list that they may receive offers from other businesses. We recommend not sending more than 2 or 3 per month or people will think that you are spamming them and unsubscribe from your list. You should also consider telling your subscribers that you are able to provide this text messaging service for free to them because the occasional local business advertisement pays the fees.
Charge people to subscribe to your list. This obviously depends on the service your list is providing. If the information is valuable enough for people to pay for then they might pay a small fee to get your texts. You can even setup a special Long Code Keyword and list just for these “special” customers. A dance club might want to send out a text to this special list if a celebrity comes into the club. A pool hall could send out a text if a Pro comes in, or if somebody looking for a cash game comes in.
